The Making of Americans

Using text from Gertrude Stein’s The Making of Americans, the video incorporates documentation and reflection upon a stint at the National Training Center (NTC) for the military in Fort Irwin, California. The video is part of the long-form video-performance FIRST ASSIGNMENT. Performances alongside the video in projection have occurred at select venues: Interrupt, Intervene! Art as Social Practice Conference at University of California – Santa Cruz, &Now Conference at Chapman University (Orange, CA), LA Freewaves Festival, Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles – PDC, The Velaslavasay Panorama Theater (Los Angeles), and Sea & Space Explorations Gallery (Los Angeles), among others.
